Officially back in person since 2019, the fundraising community couldn’t be more excited for Fundraising Day. In a sector that is dedicated to making the world better and where human connection is paramount, this is exactly what Ottawa needs to continue making our communities better.
Join AFP Ottawa, on May 25th at The Shaw Centre from 8 am to 4:30 pm, where fundraising professionals, leaders and community builders will unite to connect, learn and collaborate.
This conference will recognize the leaders and organizations in the non-profit sector who lived through the pandemic. Whether their organization survived, adapted, built resilience, or were forced to temporarily or permanently reduce programs and services, the fundraising community will make the time to recognize and celebrate the impeccable efforts by dedicated members of our society to keep Ottawa and surrounding communities strong.
While most charities and non-profit organizations were able to adapt and innovate during the pandemic, the situation for many others was incredibly challenging. The constraints and uncertainty of the pandemic, paired with unpredictable social distancing mandates, brought significant changes to organizational priorities, and dramatically changed how organizations now operate.
“Today, as the world opens up, non-profit organizations and charities are navigating the challenges of the growing gap between capacity and demand, along with revenue and resources. This challenge is influencing staffing decisions and volunteer contributions,” says Solange Tuyishime Keita, this year’s Fundraising Day co-chair, adding that the gap goes even further.
“While most large organizations with greater visibility, connections and influence were able to thrive in recent years, smaller community organizations had to close their doors. In 2023, we are navigating a struggling economy, a decline in charitable giving and a workforce crisis amid increased demand for services.”
