Bunker & Beers: Take a trip underground to the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum. Give yourself at least an hour to explore the underground bunker as you travel back in time to 1961. Pro tip: register for Escape the Diefenbunker, the world’s largest escape room, where you work as a team to find clues and solve puzzles before the clock counts down. Once you emerge from the bunker, head to Ridge Rock Brewing Company for local brews on tap and an extensive food menu. Don’t forget to take some cans home with you!
Brunch & Vines: For a fun daytime date idea or girls’ trip, visit one of Carp’s charming brunch spots, like Alice’s Village Café, Eldon’s Pantry, or the Swan at Carp. After that, head over to KIN Vineyard and sample wines from Ontario’s northernmost Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyard. Take in the beautiful views and you’ll find lots of spots to snap the perfect photo for your Instagram feed.
Local Love: Visit the largest producer-based Farmer’s Market in Eastern Ontario on the Carp Fairgrounds, Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm. Feel good about supporting local vendors and producers while buying a wide array of fresh, healthy local products. Once you’re done at the Farmers’ Market, take advantage of being in Carp and check out other local businesses like the Hive, a multi-vendor shop in the heart of the Village.
Fair Play: Circle September 22 to 25 on your calendar for the Carp Fair, the “Best Little Fair in Canada.” Bring the whole family to check out exhibits, shows, and entertainment in Carp’s celebration of agriculture. Check out the homecraft, agriculture, and livestock competitions to see the best of the best of what’s produced in Carp.
A destination for everyone, there’s lots to see, do, and eat in the Village of Carp. Plan your visit today and see for yourself why Carp is one of Eastern Ontario’s hidden gems.
