Technology developed by one of Ottawa’s fastest-growing companies is being used to personalize weather forecasts for millions of U.S. residents.
Kanata-based You.i TV, a television app developer, says it’s been selected by the parent company of The Weather Channel to provide a software platform delivering localized content for users across a range of devices.
The first project will be The Weather Channel’s “Local Now” streaming service, which combines news, weather, traffic and sports from various content sources.

You.i TV will be applying its Engine One software, an out-of-box solution for media companies to create TV and video-on-demand platforms, which the local company claims can cut development efforts necessary for such an interface in half.
You.i TV employs some 200 staff and has worked with major broadcasters and content producers including Turner, Fox, Sony, Rogers Communications, Corus Entertainment and the Canadian Football League.
