Senators name newspaper veteran new chief marketing officer

The Ottawa Senators have turned to a former newspaper executive to be their new chief marketing officer and vice-president of ticketing.

Peter O’Leary worked for 13 years at the Ottawa Citizen, including a stint as vice-president of advertising. He spent the last nine years at Metroland Media Group, a division of Torstar, where he most recently served as regional general manager of the Metroland East division which covers Ottawa and the surrounding area. He was also chief operating officer at publishing company Performance Group before it was sold to Metroland.

In total, Mr. O’Leary has more than 27 years of newspaper experience in Ottawa and Toronto. The longtime Sens fan will officially begin his new post with the NHL club on Sept. 22.
