Ross Video invests in Norwegian media company that will provide ‘holistic experience like no other’

Ross Video announced Friday it has made a “seven-figure investment” in a Norwegian company it says is changing how media will be produced and consumed.

Ross Video CEO David Ross said his company’s relationship with The Future Group (TFG) began as a technical collaboration.

“We firmly believe TFG will play a major role in driving this development,” Mr. Ross said in a statement. “We were intrigued by their ambitions … and how closely they were aligned with our own aims in certain areas.”

TFG is looking to reach $12 million in series-B funding, which would represent one of the biggest raises ever by a European tech company.

It is currently working on a social entertainment platform it is calling “The Future Universe” that will meld television, gaming, brand awareness and e-commerce into what Ross calls “a holistic experience like no other.” It will communicate through all screens with no headsets or other gear required.

“We are very excited to have Ross as a development partner and we see their investment as an expression of deep confidence in us and a commitment to changing the future of television,” The Future Group co-founder and chairman Jens Petter Høili said in a statement. “There is no other video production equipment company in the world that has their expertise and their history of successfully bringing innovation to the market.”

Ross and TFG are working together on an interactive virtual reality game show to be launched next year. TFG is partnering with one of the world’s largest TV content production and distribution companies to develop the game show, which will be the first of several show formats to be launched.
