With more than $1 million in pre-orders and in excess of 8,000 licences already sold, Ottawa-based PageCloud officially launched its web editor software Monday.
The software, also called PageCloud, lets users add photos, text, videos and other elements to web pages using drag-and-drop movements and keyboard shortcuts.
Since it was founded in August 2014, PageCloud has raised $6.2 million in three funding rounds, attracting investment capital from such heavy hitters as Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke. The company is now averaging $300,000 in monthly sales and is signing up an average of 3,000 customers per month.

“The response we’ve seen so far, even before launching our product, has been phenomenal,” PageCloud founder and CEO Craig Fitzpatrick said in a statement. “It’s clear that we’re meeting an extreme need and can completely change the web as we know it. We’re bringing the Internet back to the way it was always intended – to be a place where anyone can create and share something online.”
Mr. Fitzpatrick said PageCloud makes designing websites a skill accessible to everyone.
“Our product completely fixes the process by building upon familiar, intuitive behaviors to make web design simplistic and more artistic for the average web user,” he said.
Former Salesforce senior vice-president and PageCloud investor Avanish Sahai said he was “blown away” by both the company and its product.
“What the team has built and the vision they have can be truly revolutionary and I am very excited to be investing and helping them build their business,” he said in a statement.
Effective Dec. 1, PageCloud will be available for $24 per month per website.
