A 32-year-old local IT firm that rapidly scaled up its revenues earlier this decade and became an official partner of this year’s Canada 150 celebrations in Ottawa is coming under new ownership.

Northern Micro, which provides IT hardware – including client devices such as notebooks and desktops as well as data centre infrastructure – and software, says it’s been purchased by Converge Technology Partners.

Northern Micro president Herman Yeh and other members of the company’s senior management team will continue in their current roles.

“We will continue to make investments in our people and remain committed to the success of our customers and OEM partners,” Mr. Yeh said in a statement. “By joining Converge, Northern Micro will have access to new technologies, knowledge and resources, enabling us to become more competitive in the marketplace for future growth.”

Northern Micro was a 2012 finalist in Ottawa Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Companies rankings, which recognizes profitable local firms for sustained revenue growth.

More recently, the company was named the official IT partner to the Ottawa 2017 Bureau.
