To restore employee confidence in the region’s hardest hit sectors, the Ottawa Board of Trade (OBOT) is introducing the Workforce Confidence Initiative, a collection of tools and resources to help get Ottawa businesses back on their feet.
The initiative, in partnership with Ottawa Tourism, aims to support sectors such as hospitality and tourism to ensure employees have the resources and materials “needed to feel safe, supported and confident to return to work.”
“The Ottawa community has one of the highest big city vaccination rates in the country as well as an impressive level of health protocol compliance among business. The lifting of capacity restrictions and the Ontario plan for reopening are positive indicators that we are on the road to recovery,” said Sueling Ching, president and CEO at OBOT, in a news release.

Through the OBOT website, employers can access rapid testing, register for workshops, and sign up for the POST promise, which stands for ‘People Outside Safely Together’. It is a self-declaration from a business to its customers and employees that it is working hard to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Two upcoming workshops focus on building confidence, dealing with difficult customers, and addressing mental health well-being.
The OBOT has been working with communities, business leaders and stakeholders at all levels of government to ensure businesses have the support needed to “survive and thrive.”
The initiative will be a “valuable tool to help rebuild employee confidence and mitigate the uncertainty that has been instilled in our workforce throughout the pandemic,” said Michael Crockatt, president and CEO at Ottawa Tourism.
“Employee confidence must be restored to ensure the successful resumption of business in the hardest hit sectors and will help build a stronger economic rebound,” he added.
