Les Promenades Gatineau’s newest tenant officially opened its doors Tuesday, the first of several new stores moving in to West Quebec’s largest shopping centre in the coming months.
A combined HomeSense and Marshalls store now occupies some 36,000 square feet inside the 835,000-square-foot mall, located near the intersection of Maloney and Gréber boulevards.
This is the first Marshalls banner in West Quebec. The space was previously occupied by Urban Planet, which has been moved to a smaller 20,000-square-foot area across from its former location.

Officials say the mall, owned by Oxford Properties Group and Montez Corp., currently has a vacancy rate of 2.5 per cent. During the last four years, the shopping centre – which is anchored by Costco, Sports Experts, Hudson’s Bay and Simons – has brought in 48 new stores, and has renovated and relocated 40 stores.
Les Promenades Gatineau has upwards of 155 stores and will open several new ones in coming months, including SoftMoc, Pandora, RW&CO and MAC Cosmetics.
This has necessitated somewhat of a “chess game” at times as mall managers must find ways of moving tenants around the building through relocation or additions, as was the case when Simons moved in and an 8,000 25,000-square-foot expansion was added to the mall in August 2015, says Kathleen Michaud, Les Promenades Gatineau’s marketing director.
Les Promenades Gatineau is in the early stages of exploring options for adding an entertainment component, which may include a movie theatre, and has been working with a consulting firm to explore various concepts.
