Erin Crowe, who has worked with the Ottawa Senators for 20 years, most recently as executive vice-president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer, is leaving the hockey club to join Canada Soccer, the sport’s governing body said in a press release on Tuesday.
Crowe, an Ottawa native, will take up the roles of CFO and COO with Canada Soccer starting in April.
“As someone with a passion for soccer and for sport in Canada, I am thrilled to join Canada Soccer and contribute to the tremendous work being done to promote and develop the sport in Canada. I look forward to working with the talented team here and to support our vision and help elevate the game across the country at such an important time,” Crowe said in the press release.

Crowe has been both a fan and an “engaged participant” in the soccer community, especially in Ottawa, including on the board of the West Ottawa Soccer Club, according to Canada Soccer’s press release.
“Erin is an accomplished and experienced executive with a track record of success in sports, private sector finance, and organizational operations. In addition, her passion for grassroots soccer makes her an ideal leader to join our dedicated senior staff,” Kevin Blue, CEO and general secretary of Canada Soccer, said in the release.
Crowe was hired in 1996 by the Senators as vice-president of finance and was promoted to CFO several years later. She left the Sens in 2015 and then resumed working with the team in 2022 as CFO and EVP, adding the COO title a year later.
“This was a bittersweet day because Erin has provided significant financial and operational leadership within our organization over the years. Many of us know that Erin’s passion for the Senators is only rivalled by her love for soccer and we know that Canada Soccer will benefit greatly from her leadership. I will miss Erin’s leadership and organizational strength, I want to wish her well in this exciting new role and challenge,” Cyril Leeder, president of the Ottawa Senators, said in an email to OBJ.
Crowe leaves her role with the Sens just as the team is in the midst of negotiations surrounding the purchase of land at LeBreton Flats, which would allow a new arena to be built closer to the downtown core.
OBJ spoke with Crowe in October about the team’s plan to work with local businesses to solidify relationships as the team works to move forward with LeBreton plans.
Crowe was recognized as 2022 CFO of the Year by the Ottawa Business Journal and Ottawa Board of Trade.
