Building permits double in July

A massive renovation project in the parliamentary precinct helped to more than double the year-over-year value of construction projects given the go-ahead in July, municipal records show.

The City of Ottawa issued $447.82 million worth of permits last month, an increase when compared to the total value of $204.77 million issued in July 2012.

The total number of permits issued also went up to 1,125 last month from 963 during the same time period a year earlier.
