As Ottawa companies look for local support and encouragement amid the COVID-19 crisis, the Ottawa Board of Trade and Ottawa Business Journal are spearheading a new initiative for residents to rally around the local business community.

The Ottawa Stronger Together online and television broadcast on Thursday, June 25 will share compelling stories from local businesses and demonstrate how they are adjusting rapidly to this new economic reality.

“This is a unique opportunity to further demonstrate commitment to our community and the power of collaboration,” says Sueling Ching, president and CEO of the Ottawa Board of Trade. “All Ottawa residents are invited to join the celebration by hosting a watch party and sharing what they love about our local business community on social media, using #OttawaStrongerTogether.”

The broadcast is part of a $50,000 marketing campaign to rally support for local business that is supported by the Ottawa Board of Trade, Ottawa Business Journal and Rogers Sports & Media.

To provide a source of inspiration to the city, Ottawa Stronger Together will also present this year’s Forty Under 40 recipients. The names of this year’s recipients will be released later this week.

“The pandemic might be disrupting business, but that will not stop us from presenting the Forty Under 40 for the 23rd year,” says OBJ publisher Michael Curran. “These are 40 of the most successful and community-minded young business leaders. We need Forty Under 40 to inspire us and give us hope for a brighter economic future.”

The broadcast will also feature interviews and video messages from national and local celebrities.

Co-hosted by 1310 News host and OBJ co-owner Mark Sutcliffe and Sandra Plagakis of KiSS 105.3, the broadcast will start at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 on YouTube Live, Rogers TV and OttawaMatters.com.
