The trip from Ottawa to Manhattan is about to get slightly longer aboard the country’s largest airline.
Starting March 26, Air Canada will move its three-times daily flights between Ottawa and New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Newark, according to aviation data website Routesonline, which says Air Canada will use a Bombardier CRJ200 regional jet on the route.
Online reaction to the move was mixed. While some people noted that Newark, N.J., is farther from Manhattan, others argued that it offers superior transit service to LaGuardia, which was compared to a “third world” facility by former U.S. vice-president Joe Biden and featured traffic jams so bad this month that passengers and pilots were seen abandoning their rides and walking to the terminal in the snow.

For those looking for a direct flight, Delta Airlines will start flying directly between Canada’s capital and LaGuardia starting April 1 with a single daily flight using a Bombardier CRJ900 regional jet, according to Routesonline.
The nonstop Delta flight leaves Ottawa at 6:30 a.m. and arrives in Newark at 7:53 a.m. The return trip departs New Jersey at 9:59 p.m. and lands in Ottawa at 11:23 p.m.
