Kingston manufacturers will be able to access a new monthly trade webinar series designed to help their businesses grow and explore global markets.
The series, hosted by Kingston Economic Development, will focus on Canada’s top trading partners and related foreign trade agreements. Presented by trade experts from Canadian consulates around the globe, the series will provide insight into international markets and thriving sectors for sustainable manufacturing.
“It is now more important than ever for companies to explore export opportunities outside of their comfort zone, not only to enhance competitiveness and increase revenues, but also to be more agile and ensure their growth and sustainability,” said Abdul Razak Jendi, investment manager for sustainable manufacturing at Kingston Economic Development.

“We hope the trade webinar series plants the seeds of trade and export opportunities for Canadian manufacturers in markets they might have not considered,” Jendi added. “We also hope that the series will trigger manufacturers to reach out and benefit from the services offered by the Trade Commissioner Service and the support and market intel shared by industry experts at Canada’s overseas missions.”
Jendi pointed to a “rich history” of manufacturing in Kingston due to the “attractive talent pool, R&D capabilities and favourable business climate.” Jendi also mentioned countless specialty design companies that manufacture and export products to serve industries like automotive, food processing and pharmaceutical.
“Ultimately, the (desired) result is to expand the manufacturers’ markets and improve their sustainability, which will have a direct and positive effect on the economic development of their respective regions,” Jendi said.
The next webinar will be held March 29 and will focus on Mexico and the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (CUSMA), with subsequent webinars discussing Germany, Japan and the UK.
