Maintaining federal monuments in Canada’s capital can be big business.
Late last week, government officials awarded a two-year agreement worth up to $499,631 to Ottawa-based environmental contracting company Asbex for annual maintenance of nearly two dozen local monuments, according to published procurement records.
The contract covers some of the city’s best-known sites such as the National War Memorial as well as statues of past prime ministers and The Famous Five on Parliament Hill.
