OC Transpo is setting aside a fleet of dedicated buses to more rapidly deploy replacement transit service when Ottawa’s light-rail system goes down.
Beginning Monday, 20 buses staged will be on-call for relief service when issues with the LRT line delay Ottawa commuters. The dedicated fleet will be staged at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Stadium, just off the Queensway near the Vanier Parkway.
In a memo to council, transit head John Manconi said the fleet will allow OC Transpo to service the replacement route as needed without drawing resources from other routes across the city.
