A key interprovincial bridge is ready to reopen to commuters this week as major construction on the Chaudière Crossing wraps up.
Public Services and Procurement Canada says the Chaudière Crossing will reopen to private, commercial and truck traffic at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The key linkage between Ontario and Quebec closed to traffic in late April due to rising water levels on the Ottawa River. Traffic has since been diverted to the Portage and Macdonald-Cartier bridges, with pedestrian, cyclist and public transit use restored in late May.

The bridge has remained closed over the summer for planned construction works to the Chaudière Crossing, including the addition of bike lanes and raised pedestrian walkways. The crossing will see occasional lane reductions over the coming months to complete some remaining construction work.
