Ottawa-based UTG Digital Media has put some pep in a new set of steps at one of Toronto’s largest malls, installing a specialized LED staircase as part of recent renovations at the Eaton Centre.
The project, valued at more than $200,000 according to a UTG spokesperson, includes a 13-step staircase with programmable LED panels to display text, image and video. UTG designed the specialized cabinets from its offices on Canotek Road.
According to the Ottawa firm, the only other staircase of its kind is UTG’s similar project at a nightclub in Las Vegas, which won an International Digital Signage Award in 2017.
