You.i TV has hired two seasoned video services executives to boost the firm’s global sales team following a banner fiscal 2018.
The Kanata-based firm, which develops software platforms for smart TVs and over-the-top streaming services, announced Tuesday it set a sales record in 2018 – surpassing total revenues from all previous years combined. As a privately held company, You.i TV doesn’t disclose specifics on its annual revenues, but CEO Jason Flick told Techopia Live heading into 2018 that the company was aiming to hit the $100-million mark.
Since its founding in 2008, You.i TV has garnered significant interest and investment in its multi-screen solution, which allows media companies to host their apps on a variety of devices and streaming platforms with a single foundation of code. The 200-plus-person company made headlines last fall with a US$23-million series-C round led by a venture capital fund focused on innovative sports media companies.

Tuesday’s news release states that nearly a third of You.TV’s sales last year came from the company’s international market segments. Flick told OBJ last year that You.i TV would put some of its new funding towards further developing its global business pipeline; as such, the firm is adding two new heads of sales covering Europe and Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions.
Heading up the firm’s European sales team will be Lara Lerville, who has spent more than two decades helping broadcasters embrace new technologies. She joins You.i TV from the Android TV-focused 3 Screen Solutions. Ghali Belghali, Lerville’s counterpart in Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, joins from video software firm Accedo, where he helped build international sales pipelines for the You.i TV competitor for the past eight years.
The new hires join Simon Leadlay, also previously of Accedo, who joined You.i TV in late December to lead the firm’s global pay-TV business development efforts.
