An Ottawa health-tech company will get a helping hand as it enters the United States thanks to the Boston-based Canadian Technology Accelerator.

Aetonix Systems, which develops a platform that connects health-care professionals to patients and their families, is one of seven companies joining CTA Boston’s fall 2018 cohort. Funded by the government of Canada, the accelerator program connects Canadian firms to U.S. clients, partners and investors to support the companies’ international expansions.

Participants from across Canada in fields such as traditional ICT, health care, robotics and food tech receive office space in Cambridge, Mass., connections to local industry leaders and support from an individualized mentoring team.

Aetonix CEO Michel Paquet said in a statement that the firm’s aTouchAway platform, currently being piloted in the Ontario health-care system, has attracted interest from a variety of American care institutions. He added that having a physical presence in the U.S. will give the firm a leg up in converting those interested parties to customers.

This isn’t the only accelerator Aetonix has been accepted into – the firm is among Invest Ottawa’s first cohort of companies as well.
