A fresh crop of Ottawa tech firms are opening their doors to the public at next month’s Startup Open House, the sixth edition of the annual event.
Open houses will take place across Canada from Sept. 15-27, with companies in Ottawa opening up on the 20th.
Among the tech firms already registered for the local edition are Shopify, FarmLead and Giatec Scientific. Accelerators and coworking spaces such as L-Spark, Bayview Yards, Collab Space and Coworkly will also be showing off their digs and introducing some of their member firms to those in attendance.

Startup Open House is billed as a chance for firms to introduce themselves to potential partners, customers and talent in the local ecosystem. Techopia visited Kanata’s You.i TV at a recent edition of the event where CEO Jason Flick talked about the value of opening the firm’s doors.
“We’ve grown, almost doubling in size every year for the past eight years. You can’t do that without a good community piece,” he said.
Registration is open now for attendees as well as Ottawa startups looking to welcome the world. Firms that self-identify as a startup or embody the entrepreneurial spirit and have an office or co-working space of their own are qualified to participate.
