A five-block stretch of one of the busiest roads in Ottawa’s central business district will be closed until early March, according to the city.
Municipal staff say O’Connor Street is scheduled to be closed between Laurier Avenue and Somerset Street from Monday, Jan. 22 to Friday, March 2 so Bell can reconstruct several manholes.
Drivers will be directed to use Elgin Street instead. The cycling lanes will remain open.

O’Connor Street, a one-way southbound road, is the primary connection for many motorists who are leaving the downtown core and headed for the Queensway.
The closure is the latest headache for downtown drivers, who are already facing detours related to the closure of Queen Street between O’Connor and Bank streets during construction of the light-rail line.
