A day on the golf course can do much more than bring people together. It can help change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa (CAFO)’s Charity Golf Tournament, in partnership the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), brought 150 business and community leaders together Sept. 9 at the Canadian Golf and Country Club for a day of golf, connection and giving back to children, youth and families involved with Ottawa’s child welfare system.

This year, the tournament raised more than $38,000 in net proceeds to support education, youth transition, life enrichment opportunities and other essential needs for vulnerable children and youth involved with child welfare.

The impact can be as practical as providing a safe bed to sleep in, or as transformative as giving a child a summer camp experience, helping a young person pursue post secondary education or discover a new passion.

For Ottawa’s business community, the tournament is an opportunity to connect with colleagues, clients and community partners while making a meaningful local impact. Through golfing, sponsorship and volunteering, participants help create opportunities and brighter futures for children and youth in our community.

The BDC/CAFO Charity Golf Tournament shows what’s possible when Ottawa’s business and charitable communities come together to support local children and youth.
