How LifespanMD is redefining proactive, preventative care in Ottawa

Ottawa’s longevity-focused clinic combines comprehensive wellness assessments, advanced diagnostics, personalized action plans, and continuous support to help clients live better, longer

LifespanMD was founded in Ottawa in 2025 on a shared belief that health is a person’s most valuable asset, and that maintaining it deserves thoughtful, proactive attention.

Located at 900 Boyd Ave., the longevity-focused clinic serves adults, seniors, families, executives and high-performing individuals who want a deeper understanding of their health today, and a more intentional plan for the decades ahead.

The clinic was created to help shift health care from reactive problem-solving to proactive health planning. Advances in diagnostics, preventive medicine and medical science now allow a more complete understanding of the factors that influence long-term health, including cardiovascular risk, metabolic health, hormonal health, physical performance, sleep, nutrition, cognition and lifestyle.

LifespanMD brings these elements together in a structured, physician-led model focused on prevention, early detection and longitudinal support.

A multidisciplinary medical team backed by strategic affiliations with major hospitals

Each client begins with a comprehensive wellness assessment, an in-depth evaluation conducted by LifespanMD’s multidisciplinary medical team. The assessment includes physician consultation, physical examination, extensive biomarker testing, cardiovascular and metabolic risk assessment, hormonal testing where clinically appropriate, body composition analysis, skin cancer screening and fitness testing, including balance, stability, strength and VO2 max.

Strategic affiliations with organizations such as Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Medicine and Mass General Brigham add additional client value, while preferred provider relationships support clients beyond the clinic walls.

Optional testing – including advanced imaging, at-home sleep studies, cardiac investigations, genetic testing, nutrigenomics and advanced cancer-related screening – may be recommended based on each patient’s individual risk factors and clinical needs. When specialized testing is appropriate, we coordinate care through our network of qualified specialists to help ensure that each test is appropriately selected, performed and interpreted within the proper clinical context

A core differentiator: Data continuity and personalized health

LifespanMD’s core differentiator is the continuity around the data. The program extends beyond a single physical or checkpoint: Clients receive a personalized health plan, ongoing care, semi-annual focused reassessments and support from a coordinated team that includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, registered dietitians, fitness professionals and dedicated client care specialists.

The goal is to translate complex medical information into practical decisions about cardiovascular risk, cancer prevention, metabolic health, hormones, nutrition, sleep, fitness, cognition and long-term performance.

The experience is intentionally boutique and designed to remain that way: LifespanMD’s team is small enough to know clients personally and broad enough to coordinate care across medical, lifestyle and specialist needs. Each client has access to a personal health concierge who helps arrange follow-up testing, referrals, private healthcare options where appropriate, and navigation within Canada and internationally. Clients also receive additional benefits including 24/7 virtual care and preferred pricing with select providers.

For busy professionals and families, that coordination is central to the organization’s value. It means fewer disconnected appointments, clear next steps and a medical team that remains engaged between assessments.

LifespanMD is led by co-founder and CEO Dr. Sam Hetz, alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team including Dr. Valerie Hertzog, Dr. Steve Radke, Dr. Pamela Lai, Dr. Rebecca Chase, nurse practitioner Sarina Ghent, nurse Lindsay Braidwood, fitness coach Julie Fortier, registered dietitians, and client care specialists.

Together, the team’s focus is simple: help clients understand their health, reduce future risk and live better, longer.
