Ottawa’s top public sector techie will deliver the keynote address this weekend at Drupal North, the first time the annual developers’ event has come to the Capital.

Alex Benay, who has been outspoken about the need for an IT overhaul since taking the federal government’s chief information officer role in April, will kick off the free weekend of events and talks.

The Drupal North conference gathers businesses, developers and users of the open-source web development platform Drupal to share tips, tricks and best practices. The conference’s programming ranges from beginner to expert level, and caters to a variety of backgrounds including higher education, security and designers.
