Local staff at defence firm DRS Technologies are settling into a new home after the company consolidated its two offices in the region into a single location.
The Virginia-based company officially announced the opening of its new facility at 500 Palladium Dr. on Monday. The company previously had an office in Carleton Place, which it recently closed after more than 40 years in the community west of Ottawa.
DRS Technologies is the third-largest employer in Ottawa’s defence and security sector with approximately 350 staff members, according to OBJ research files.

The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of naval communications, flight data recorders, electronic warfare threat simulators and surveillance technology.
DRS Technologies is also part of the team bidding to replace the Canadian Armed Forces’ aged fixed-wing search and rescue fleet.
In 2012, DRS Technologies’ local offices won a $38.7 million communications technology contract as part of the Canadian Land Command Support System Life Extension Project.
