L-Spark grad Cliniconex lands seed funding round

Local healthcare IT company Cliniconex says it’s on the hunt for additional software engineers and sales representatives after securing its first seed funding round, led by the Capital Angel Network and Wesley Clover International.

The size of the investment was not disclosed. As part of the funding agreement, Wesley Clover president Paul Chiarelli and Rob White of Capital Angels will join Cliniconex’s board of directors.

“The timing of this funding couldn’t be better,” said Cliniconex CEO Anthony Mar in a statement. “It will enable us to bolster product development, accelerate global expansion in sales, and scale ahead of the increasing demand that we’re seeing.”

Launched in 2011, Cliniconex is a software-as-a-service company that helps physicians run their medical practices more efficiently while saving them money on missed and rescheduled appointments.

Specifically, its products perform tasks such as providing appointment reminders to patients. Additionally, it analyzes electronic medical records and interprets the physician’s workflow to automatically perform whatever outreach is required for their patients.

Cliniconex graduated from Ottawa’s L-Spark accelerator program earlier this year. Its sales are growing at 35 per cent every quarter, the company said this week.
