A Texas-based semiconductor company announced Thursday it has acquired Gatineau’s CogniVue Corporation.
Freescale Semiconductor was already using CogniVue’s vision processing IP in many of its products.
It said bringing CogniVue’s vision IP development capabilities and R&D resources in-house will bring more automotive innovation to vehicle manufacturers, get products to market faster and ultimately fuel its continuing growth.

“This acquisition places Freescale in a position to supply highly automated car applications with the requisite performance, safety, security and reliability those systems require,” Freestyle’s automotive MCU group’s senior vice-president and general manager Bob Conrad said in a statement.
Financial terms of the deal were not released.
