Clearford signs MOU with Indian conglomerate

Clearford Water Systems announced Friday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Essel, a large Indian company with interests in the media, entertainment, packaging, infrastructure, education, precious metals and technology sectors.

The MOU, signed as part of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne’s trade mission to India, is meant “to forge a strategic partnership” that would bring Clearford’s wastewater collection and treatment system, called Clearford One, to India.

The two-year agreement will see the companies work together to identify projects where Clearford could place a bid. Essel will also help Clearford work through all the regulations necessary to install its systems at various locations across India.

“We are looking forward to working with Essel Infraprojects in addressing the challenges many communities face with waste water collection and treatment throughout India,” Clearford president and CEO Kevin Loiselle said in a statement. “We believe Clearford One will make a significant contribution to addressing these challenges.”

Mr. Loiselle said the two companies have already identified projects in the state of Rajasthan that could be worth CAD$20 million. He said the companies are expected to submit joint proposals for these projects.
