Six general contractors will have the chance to bid on $3.5-million renovation project at the University of Ottawa.
The contractors were chosen out of a group of 19 that applied for pre-qualification to bid on the contract to build the university’s new Alumni Hall. The tender process begins on May 15 and will close on June 5.
The job will see the entire interior at 147 Séraphin Marion demolished and replaced to convert the building into a one-level lecture and reception hall. The neighbouring building, 155-157 Séraphin-Marion, will also undergo what the university describes as “extensive” ground-floor renovations.

The two buildings are both heritage structures: Maison Gaston-Héon and the former home of Thomas Foran, the university’s first graduate.
The hall is intended as a meeting and workspace for alumni of the university.
“Located in the heart of campus, the new hall will symbolize the ties that bind our alumni to their alma mater, as well as the appreciation the university has for its proudest ambassadors,” University of Ottawa president Allan Rock, the university’s president, said in a release.
