The Christmas Cheer Foundation Marked Another Year of Support for Ottawa Families
Ottawa — The Christmas Cheer Foundation once again helped brighten the holiday season for residents in need, continuing a tradition that began more than seven decades ago. The initiative first took shape in 1951 with the launch of the Christmas Cheer Broadcast, a radio-thon supported by CFRA and the West Ottawa Lions Club. What started as a small seasonal effort gradually expanded, drawing participation from local organizations, community leaders, and well-known personalities.
In 2007, the long-running campaign formalized its operations with the creation of the Christmas Cheer Foundation. Since then, the group has maintained a strong presence during the holidays, most notably through its annual Christmas Cheer Breakfast. This year’s event once again welcomed thousands of community members, underscoring the continued appreciation and support the initiative has received throughout the Ottawa region.
