The Kris Singhal Family has donated $20 million to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation in support of the Campaign to Create Tomorrow.

“This extraordinary donation — one of the largest in Ottawa’s health-care history — will help build a world-class health and research centre that will reshape care for generations to come,” the foundation said in a news release Thursday.

Kris Singhal, the founder of Richcraft, his wife Manju and his daughters Monica and Angela said their gift represents a commitment to creating a healthier future for the community.

“Our family supports the hospital because we believe in health care’s power to change lives,” said Monica and Angela in the release. “We hope our contribution brings hope and healing to those in our community.”

According to the release, a building at the new hospital campus on Carling Avenue will be named in the family’s honour.

With this donation, the campaign has reached $396 million of its $500-million goal.

“Today marks a truly historic moment for our hospital and our city. The Singhal family’s extraordinary generosity will shape the future of care in our region,” said Tim Kluke, president and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, in the release. “It’s a powerful example of how philanthropy drives innovation and enables us to deliver the very best care to patients and families today and for generations to come.”
