Proud To Be Me’s signature fundraiser returned to the Brookstreet Hotel on Friday, gathering 275 of its supporters and raising $105,000.
The Bullyfree Gala raises money for youth programs around three main themes: building relationships, providing opportunities, and creating connections for youth.
The highlight of the gala was a keynote speech delivered by 15-year-old Tala Badr, who talked about her personal experience being bullied at a young age and how that contributed to her mental health issues. Today, Badr is a youth adviser for CHEO and counsellor at Youth Ottawa.
