Ottawa businesses and other community-minded organizations are stepping up to keep marginalized children warm this winter by delighting clients, staff and others with a gift of scrumptious cookies.
The Tim Hortons® Smile Cookie Campaign, running September 19 -25, donates the full $1 from every Smile Cookie sold to The Snowsuit Fund to purchase snowsuits for deserving children 15 years and younger.
Buying just 50 cookies will outfit one child in a brand-new snowsuit. For many local youngsters, that means staying toasty warm while playing in the snow and on those chilly morning walks to school.
Organizations that purchase in bulk will enjoy free delivery, a campaign partnership or even sponsorship visibility during The Snowsuit Fund’s high-profile 2022-2023 fundraising season. Some businesses have already ordered more than 1000!
“Every year we help hundreds of vulnerable families faced with a choice between putting good food on the table and outfitting their kids with a snowsuit,” says Danny Kingsbury, chairperson of The Snowsuit Fund. “We’re so grateful to Tim Hortons and our generous business community for lending a hand.”
Ottawa organizations are having a memorable community impact
Many Ottawa businesses and organizations have already seized on this opportunity to have a powerful community impact while saying thanks to employees, clients, customers and tenants.
Morguard has purchased for an upcoming tenant appreciation event. Software solution provider bitHeads has ordered over 500 as well. CLV Group and InterRent REIT will serve up Smile Cookies to participants in their upcoming Mike McCann Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. Royal Lepage Team Realty, Harrison Wealth Advisory, Lansdowne Consulting, Deloitte and local law firms Norton Rose Fulbright, Brazeau Seller Law and Greenspon Granger Hill have also ordered deliveries.
“Smile Cookies can be gifted to other charities, healthcare and other frontline workers, and long-term care residences,’ says Christine Sigouin, a volunteer board member with the Snowsuit Fund and a Smiles for Snowsuits Champion. “Importantly, every dollar spent on Smile Cookies is an investment in The Snowsuit Fund and our efforts to keep Ottawa kids warm.”
Staff at the Indigenous Mādahòkì Farm in Nepean will be munching on Smile Cookies, courtesy of KOWPR. Ottawa Police officers will distribute over a thousand cookies in the community, and another supporter is gifting hundreds of cookies to Shepherds of Good Hope.
Tim Hortons recognizes the far-reaching impact of the Smile Cookie Campaign.
“Communities coming together during these difficult times is more important than ever,” says Chris McCluskey, owner of a participating Tim Hortons location. “Our restaurants and team members are excited to continue working with The Snowsuit Fund to raise as much as possible to keep kids warm.”
The Fund is delighted to have a new sponsor this year: Trexity, which is providing free delivery for bulk orders placed online.
“It’s important to us that we not only support local merchants but give back to our local community as well,” says Alok Ahuja, co-founder and CEO of the locally based logistics service. “We are excited to be the official Snowsuit Fund Smile Cookie Delivery Partner.”
