Fashion retailer Uniqlo will open a second Ottawa location in 2024 as part of its efforts to expand its North American operation.
The company announced Monday that the new store will be located in the Bayshore Shopping Centre and is expected to open in the spring.
The company, which was founded in Japan, began operating in North America in 2005. The new store will be one of 20 locations set to open across the United States and Canada next year.

According to a press release, Uniqlo expects to operate 200 stores in North America by 2027.
It currently operates over 2,400 stores worldwide, including 19 in Canada.

Uniqlo opened its first Ottawa location on the third floor of the CF Rideau Centre this past June.

In a recent interview, Rideau Centre general manager Brian O’Hoski said the store has found significant success in its first few months.
“They’ve been doing tremendously well,” he said. “They’re very happy and they’ve exceeded their plans for Ottawa.”
According to a press release Monday, the company said it expects to accelerate its growth following a successful year.
“Uniqlo in North America reported significant growth for the fiscal year ending on August 31, 2023, and expects the strong results to continue in 2024,” it said. “While accelerating the pace of new store openings, the company expects to achieve double-digit sales growth in its existing stores.”
In addition to the new store at the Bayshore Shopping Centre, Uniqlo will open three other Canadian locations this spring, including two in the Greater Toronto Area and one in Calgary.
