Two Ottawa Ben Moss Jewellers locations are among 11 “underperforming stores” that will close as part of the company’s plan to restructure under creditor protection, it said Wednesday.
Inventory reduction sales are already underway at the locations at the Bayshore Shopping Centre and the St. Laurent Centre, and the company said the “process” to close the stores will begin in the coming weeks.
The closures will leave Ben Moss with one Ottawa location, at the Carlingwood Shopping Centre.

JNS Group, which owns Ben Moss, said in a statement the restructuring will “position the company to compete and thrive in a Canadian jewelry marketplace that it has helped define for over a century.”
The jewelry retailer said it expects to emerge from creditor protection this summer and has secured financing from its senior secured lenders to allow it to operate until that time.
