IBM says it is launching a new facility at Gatineau’s Zibi development to help the federal government modernize its cloud infrastructure and bolster its network security.
The company said the Cloud Modernization Centre will create 50 new jobs, including some for government security-cleared cloud and AI experts.
IBM said Thursday there is an “increased urgency for tech modernization in government,” citing a recent company study that found the vast majority of Canadian business and government leaders surveyed believe upgrading the federal cloud infrastructure would boost efficiency and better protect Canadians’ personal data.

The new facility is the latest addition to Zibi, a 34-acre mixed-use neighbourhood that spans both sides of the Ottawa River and is eventually expected to house 5,000 residents and employ 6,000 people over more than a million square feet of space.
