Three Ottawa tech firms have made Mediacorp’s fourth annual list of Canada’s Top 100 Small & Medium Employers.
Halogen Software, Kinaxis and Pythian all made this year’s list released earlier this week.
Employers are evaluated on eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

“The old assumption that smaller organizations offer less attractive benefits is increasingly looking out-of-date,” Mediacorp’s managing editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers Richard Yerema said in a statement. “This year’s SME winners provide striking examples of smaller organizations ‘getting it right’ on a range of important benefits, from maternity leave to flexible vacation policies.”
Halogen’s chief people officer, Dominique Jones, said employee development is integral to the company’s corporate culture.

Kinaxis’s vice-president of human resources, Meghan Paterson, said the firm believes employee satisfaction is a priority regardless of a company’s size.

Pythian’s vice-president of human resources, Heidi Hauver, said the company takes pride in creating a good work environment.
