Shopify’s American merchants can now turn to UPS to ship their deliveries in time for the holidays, as the Ottawa e-commerce firm announced this week that it had integrated the U.S.-based carrier and delivery service into its shipping platform.
Merchants can now access UPS shipping rates and labels, as well as flexible or guaranteed delivery options, through Shopify Shipping. (which really should be called “Shipify,” if you ask this writer).

According to executives from Shopify and UPS, small business owners will now be able to access the same commerce and delivery solutions as larger retailers.
“Working with UPS helps level the playing field for small businesses to compete against larger brands with guaranteed delivery times and competitive rates previously unavailable to many small- and medium-sized merchants,” said Maia Benson, Shopify’s head of global shipping and fulfillment, in a statement.
This isn’t the first time Shopify has made a major shipping partnership. For Canadian merchants, Shopify has partnered with Canada Post for the past five years on services such as discounts and self-printing options on shipping labels. In 2015, Shopify merchants in a few select U.S. cities were given the chance to pilot UberRUSH for same-day deliveries.
In addition to the UPS partnership, Shopify also announced it would launch a 24/7 hotline for merchants seeking shipping advice in the lead up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the busiest shopping days of the year in retail. That number is 1-833- BFCM-WIN.
Just don’t call to pitch your new name suggestions for Shopify Shipping. They don’t like that, apparently.
