The inspiration: “The Ottawa Food Bank plays a crucial role in supporting individuals facing food insecurity, especially during these challenging times with rising food costs. CLV Group and InterRent are committed to building inclusive and thriving communities,” says Mike McGahan, CEO of CLV Group and executive chair of InterRent REIT.

The Ottawa Food Bank recently benefited from the hugely successful 2023 Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament organized by CLV Group and InterRent REIT. The tournament is named after the event’s original organizer, Mike McCann, who passed away in 2019 from cancer.

Since 1998, the tournament has raised over $8.1 million for charitable organizations in Ottawa, Southwestern Ontario, Montreal and British Columbia.

“This year, we were truly blown away by the generosity of our sponsors, enabling us to raise an impressive $100,000 for the Ottawa Food Bank. We must thank our community, our partners and our volunteers for making this possible — 100 per cent of the donation will directly benefit the Ottawa Food Bank, allowing them to continue their crucial work in supporting those in need,” says Mike McGahan, CEO of CLV Group and executive chair of InterRent REIT.

The surprise announcement of the $100,000 donation to the Ottawa Food Bank was shown live on CTV Ottawa’s Holiday Helpers show. “Our team’s authentic excitement seeing the amount — it was a special moment,” adds McGahan.

“We are so grateful for the incredible support from CLV Group and InterRent REIT. They have been a generous supporter of the Ottawa Food Bank for years, but this tremendous gift will have such an impact this year,” says Rachael Wilson, CEO, Ottawa Food Bank. “We have seen unprecedented and historic demand this year at the 112 programs the Ottawa Food Bank supports. With more people needing to access a food bank, these funds will help thousands of people this holiday season and beyond.”

In terms of philanthropy, the CLV Group, in collaboration with InterRent REIT, participates in the annual charity golf tournament, encourages staff to participate in volunteer days, and hosts internal fundraising events at the office. The company believes in the value of social responsibility and its mission is to make a positive impact on the communities it serves.

McGahan was recognized as the 2023 CEO of the Year at the Best Ottawa Business Awards hosted by the Ottawa Board of Trade and the Ottawa Business Journal.
