While it’s still anybody’s guess when campgrounds are going to be open to visitors this summer, an Ottawa-based online RV rental marketplace has found another use for the thousands of vehicles listed on its site.
RVezy says thousands of users on the peer-to-peer rental site have agreed to offer their recreational vehicles at reduced rates to first responders, health-care employees and other frontline workers who need a place to “rest, recuperate and self-isolate” while staying close to home during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Motorhomes and trailers can be a comfortable and safe alternative accommodation for first responders and medical workers,” the company said on its website.

RVezy founder Michael McNaught told Global News recently about 80 per cent of the platform’s users said they’d be willing to rent their vehicles to frontline workers, with many even offering to deliver the RVs directly to their destination. RVezy has also waived all service fees for the transactions.
Founded in 2016, RVezy now lists more than 5,000 motorhomes and trailers across Canada on its site.
