An Eastern Ontario construction company has merged with a southwestern Ontario firm in a bid to expand the combined organization’s reach throughout the province.
Kingston-based Terra Nova Truss announced this week it has combined with TRS Components, which is headquartered near London, Ont. Terms of the transaction, which closed on April 1, were not disclosed.
Founded in 1991, Terra Nova produces roof trusses for the residential, commercial and agricultural markets. The 55-employee company has manufacturing facilities in Kingston and Brockville.

Investing in the next generation: Ottawa businesses encouraged to build futures through mentorship
Do you remember the mentor in your life who helped shape your career? In the business world, success often depends on the connections we build, fuelled by guidance and support
TRS was founded in 1974 and last year became a portfolio company of Toronto-based private equity firm Argyle Capital Partners. The firm, which manufactures and installs roof trusses and related wood products, operates plants in Thorndale, just outside London, and Romeo, Mich.
The two companies said they will continue to operate independently and maintain their current branding, while “benefiting jointly from combined operating scale and scope.”
According to a news release, the combined entity will be one of the province’s leading manufacturers of roof trusses, supplying customers from Windsor to Ottawa as well as Michigan.
“By joining forces with TRS we are going to be uniquely positioned to grow,” Terra Nova founder and president Mark Fox said in a statement. “I look forward to working with both the TRS and Argyle teams to make TNT even stronger than it is today.”
