Techopia Live shifted its day and location to take a roadtrip to Kanata North’s Technata tech expo and talent hunt. The event was packed with more than 60 exhibitors and hundreds of candidates looking to find out a bit more about what’s happening in Kanata tech.

For a bonus episode, we also sat down with recruiters from three Kanata companies: You.i TV, ProntoForms and Magnet Forensics.
You.i TV knows a thing or two about recruitment. From September to November last year, the company added 60 new employees. Recruiter Kylie Hurst says that maintaining workplace culture throughout that time has been important to the Kanata firm.
“You can imagine what an impact in hiring 60 people in such a short amount of time can have on a company,” she says.
Thusha Adampodi, software developer with recent Kanata expansion Magnet Forensics, agrees that fit is crucial in any new hire, for big companies and small.
“It’s very competitive here. Everyone is very picky looking for really great talent, and fit is really important.”
