After hiring an American executive search firm to help in its search for a new CEO, Ottawa-based Halogen Software has determined the “ideal fit” was already in the position.
Just ahead of announcing its 2015 third-quarter results, Halogen (TSX: HGN) announced Thursday that tech veteran Leslie Rechan has been officially appointed president and CEO. Mr. Rechan had been interim CEO since Paul Loucks resigned in July.
“We’re very pleased with the positive impact Les has made at Halogen in his short time with the company,” company co-founder and executive chairman Michael Slaunwhite said in a statement. “In Les, we’re confident we have found a strong, passionate and inspirational leader with the global experience and acumen to chart the next course of success for Halogen.

Mr. Rechan joined Halogen’s board of directors in May 2015 after retiring from his position as general manager of IBM’s business analytics division. Before that, he had been COO at Cognos and has held executive roles with several other global firms over his 30-year career.
Mr. Rechan said he was impressed by Halogen’s position in the market and said it was “incredibly rewarding to be part of an Ottawa-based, global success story” focused on customers.
“I’m delighted to work with some of the best professionals in the industry – from our board to each and every business unit in the company,” Mr. Rechan said in a statement. “I look forward to working alongside this capable team to build on our strengths and maximize our customer success and market potential in this compelling space.”
