Guy Levesque is saying goodbye to Ottawa and his alma mater to take on a new role at the University of Calgary, he announced yesterday on social media.
The associate vice-president of innovation, partnerships and entrepreneurship at the University of Ottawa, Levesque spent six years leading the school’s Innovation Machine and other initiatives.
“Our amazing team accomplished so much during that time, and we helped catapult uOttawa’s profile and impact – locally, nationally and globally,” he wrote in a post on LinkedIn.
A uOttawa graduate, he joined the university in 2018. In addition to strengthening its reputation and capacity to stimulate innovation, his work also helped drive the creation and expansion of uOttawa’s Kanata North office. He has also served as board chair of the Kanata North Business Association.
Levesque said he was “humbled” by his experience in Ottawa and grateful to have played a role in the university’s expansion as a force for innovation and research.
“As I look back on these six years, the Innovation Machine dreamt big, we got shit done and we had fun doing it,” he said. “Day in and day out, I tried to set a high bar of excellence, and we consistently surpassed it. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes it was hard, but it was always rewarding.”
He will be stepping away in November to take over as executive director of the University of Calgary’s Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking.
“I can't wait to get to Calgary and join an amazing team, an amazing university, an amazing innovation and entrepreneurship community and an amazing City of Calgary to work, learn, live and play,” he said. “This next chapter starts on November 25th. Ready to #StartSomething at Canada's entrepreneurial university, where I will help transform inspiration into impact.”
