The federal government is investing $60 million to improve infrastructure at the National Research Council, it announced Friday.
About 73 per cent of that will go to eight projects in the National Capital Region.
“The National Research Council is pleased to receive this investment which will improve our capacity to support research and technology innovation, ultimately leading to economic growth and prosperity for Canadian entrepreneurs,” NRC president John R. McDougall said in a statement.

More than $1 million has been earmarked to renovate the Canadian Centre for Housing Technologies, supporting research and technology in the construction industry.
The Uplands Campus facility will get $5 million to continue its work in aerospace and transportation research.
In addition, more than $5 million will be spent to “revitalize” the facilities at 100 Sussex Dr., a federal heritage building home to research laboratories and administrative offices.
The money is part of a $5.8-billion pledge the prime minister made in November to boost public infrastructure.
