A Gatineau construction firm has won a $1.58-million contract to help clean up a contaminated property in central Ottawa.

Public Services and Procurement Canada tasked Pavage Inter Cité to excavate approximately 8,900 cubic metres of soil affected by metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from Natural Resources Canada’s campus at 555 Booth St.

The excavated soil is to be taken offsite for disposal at a licensed Ontario landfill, according to government procurement data. The site will then be backfilled with clean imported fill.

The federal government says site restoration and landscaping will be completed by October.

The job was the largest federal contract, standing offer or supply arrangement awarded to a local firm between June 5 and 11:
