The city’s planning committee has endorsed plans for a 166-unit rental apartment at the corner of Richmond Road and Woodroffe Avenue, steps from a planned light-rail station.
The site has seen several proposals – each progressively taller – over the past decade.

After initially marketing it as a condo, the property owner shifted gears and returned to City Hall with plans for a residential rental apartment building with ground-floor commercial units.

Many of the comments expressed disapproval of the height and density of the proposed building as well as concerns about parking and traffic.
The proposal now goes to full city council for approval.
