Less than a month after opening launching a Halifax location, Ottawa’s Corporate Renaissance Group has opened a new sales office in Vancouver.
“We have a lot of clients across Canada,” says Doug Hum, director of marketing and business development CRGroup, a business software reseller and consulting firm. While the company is able to provide services to other parts of the country remotely from Ottawa, he says “it’s better to have face-to-face time.”
The Vancouver office will be primarily focused on sales and, until revenue volumes grow, will have a staff of one. Mr. Hum says that CRGroup’s Vancouver manager, Chris Lythgo, can deliver some of the solutions the company offers, in addition to selling.

Right now, CRGroup’s ambitions for the Vancouver office are relatively modest. Mr. Hum says he’d like to see it become self-sufficient and eventually increase its headcount.
“We’re making an investment in the business,” he says.
While the company has customers in Alberta and B.C., Mr. Hum says this is the first time CRGroup has “actively marketed into” the region.
According to Mr. Hum, CRGroup’s “growth has always been slow and steady.”
The company opened an office in the fall and already had an office in the United States, South Africa, India and Hong Kong.
He says the company always wants to ensure there’s enough business in a new location before it grows the headcount at an office.
According to Mr. Hum, this helps the company avoid the need for cutbacks, “when we find the right talent, we keep them,” he says.
The expansion comes shortly after the company expanded its offering.
CRGroup now offers customers a choice between cloud and on-premise software “for the whole solution set,” Mr. Hum says.
It’s also expanded its selection of non-Microsoft products.
