Ottawa-based sewer rehabilitation company Clean Water Works has a new owner.
Capital Infrastructure Group, whose office is just north of Toronto in Vaughan, has announced it has acquired all outstanding shares of CWW from Market Square, a Toronto-based private equity firm.
CWW provides sewer rehabilitation, sewer and inspection services, plumbing and drain services, maintenance and installations. Its environmental services include hazardous waste disposal and remediation services such as tank cleaning, contaminated soil removal and lagoon cleaning.

The firm has customers in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick and employs about 225 people. CWW was founded in 2005 by John Brule and later told to Market Square Ltd. Partnership.
“This transaction represents a page turn for CWW and its team,” stated CWW president and CEO Paul McCarney in a release, adding the deal will provide “long-term stability” to the company and its partners. “I believe that this consolidation will create a much stronger industry leader in the marketplace.”
CIG president David Beswick called the acquisition “pivotal” for both companies.
“The consolidation of these two industry leaders creates a platform that we feel will significantly benefit our industry partners, employees and clients,” he said in a release.
CIG’s goal is to become a “one-stop-shop” for underground construction services across Canada. In December 2021, the company announced that it added vacuum excavation and horizontal directional drilling services to its portfolio with the acquisition of Allied Utility Services and Markervac Inc.
